Miss Representation

This is the second time I've watch Mia representation and I strongly believe that all girls in high school should watch it. At this age, so many young girls are dealing with peer pressure and wanting to fit in, and I think that they need to know that they have power and strength. One point I love in this movie is how society is so focused on the media, and that's why we are the way we are because we let the media control us, but we change this. We can stop watching shows like ET and access Hollywood and stop buying magazines. Also, when the movie was talking about how violence towards women in advertisements and video games can result in boys raping women, I never realized how true this is before. When a rape happens, news and media state how terrible it is - and of course it is but society needs to teach children to not do these things, instead of saying how proactive the victim was dressed. Raps is never the victims fault. Women should never be afraid to walk outside after 9'oclock. So instead of telling the victims what to not do, we need to teach boys to not rape.
